Turkey's AnadoluJet began to organize flights Thursday from Belgrade to Ankara with a special ceremony in the Serbian capital for the inaugural flight.

Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport Manager Miodag Mirkovic said Ankara-Belgrade flights will be made twice weekly and it is a first in history.

"THY (Turkish Airlines) is among our main partners. I am sure that our airport will serve incoming passengers very well,'' said Mirkovic.

Anadolujet General Manager Samil Karakas said access to the famous destination of Cappadocia is now easier for Serbians.

"I invite our Serbian friends to Ankara and of course Cappadocia with Ankara-Belgrade flights. Ankara is one of the capitals to be seen. Cappadocia is also a fairy tale. It has magnificent valleys with chimneys. You can make this visit with our new flights,'' he said.

Turkish Ambassador Hami Aksoy said tourism between the two countries is gradually accelerating.

AnadoluJet will organize reciprocal flights between Ankara and Belgrade on Thursdays and Sundays.

The airport sent the first guests of the Belgrade route with flowers.
