Alexander Zverev wins gold in men's singles tennis at Tokyo Olympics

Alexander Zverev won the gold medal in men's singles tennis at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics by beating Karen Khachanov of the Russian Olympic Committee on Sunday.

The German player won the final with 6-3 and 6-1 against Khachanov.

The world no. 5 won his first-ever Olympic medal with this victory.

Zverev, 24, previously eliminated world no.1 Novak Djokovic with 1-6, 6-3 and 6-1 and ending his "Golden Slam" dreams in the semifinals on July 30.

Zverev does not have any Grand Slam trophy yet but reached his only Grand Slam final and lost the match to Austria's Dominic Thiem in the 2020 US Open.
